Happy Mother’s Day to every single Mother out there!
There’s something intriguing about Mother’s Day.
Dear Readers,
Today is Mother’s Day, May 8th, 2022. The day we give the Mother’s in our lives a well deserved hug and pile upon them love, in many ways. The most common being chocolates, flowers, breakfast, lunch or dinner outings. We do this to say in our own ways, Thank you Mom, for everything you do. I love you!
Over the years my family of 13 siblings have grown. Many of my brothers, in fact out of the nine, only two are single, are now married. Since I am the youngest girl out of my family, number 12 out of 13 children. I have had the opportunity to see marriage and Mother-hood from a unique perspective.
The perspective of a sister, Auntie, and a single gal. One of my favorite things to say as a teen to people was “Did you know I was an Aunt before I was born?” The expression of ‘yeah sure kid‘ crossed the face of the person as I explained that I was in fact telling the truth and ‘HAHA, I know what I’m talking about.‘
For those reading this wondering how this is possible, here’s the scoop.
My oldest Sister, Tammy, was married and had just given birth to her first child, Victoria. At this exact same time Mom was a few months pregnant with me. Victoria being my sister’s child, means she is my niece. TADA~~ I was an Aunt before I was born.
As I grew up I watched as my sisters’ become Mothers. It is a beautiful experience to witness. These women went from single gal life to Wife and Mother. Each Mother is different, she raises her kids according to her childhood with some updates according to her wants and needs for her family. It’s pretty amazing how much a Mom goes through in just a single day.
This single gal used to babysit for a side job. Oh the babysitting days, I am so happy they are done. I appreciate my single life more now than ever. However, they did teach me to have extreme respect for all my sisters and for my Mom. How do they do it?? Seriously all the Mom’s old, young, with grandkids or new babies, you have my respect and admiration.
For Mother’s Day I encourage you to go spend some time with your Moms. Ask them questions, listen to them and give hugs. Appreciate all the sacrifices, time and energy our Mom’s gave for us.
Back in 2019-2020 when I was working on my first children’s book, Grandma’s Magic Blanket. It took a strangers comment, at my first book signing, to make me realize what this first book really did.
“You immortalized your Mom”
Did I really just hear that? I sure did. The Mother who made that comment was a stranger to me, who happened to come to the store where I was at with my books. She looked at my book, then at my Mom. To me, it made perfect sense. Without realizing it I did immortalize my Mom in this single book. That moment made me fall deeper in love with the story of Grandma’s Magic Blanket.
The entire book was based off of what my Mom does for the newest members of our ever growing family. The hard work she puts into doing things for the people she loves most.
This entire book was originally going to be a single book just for Mom. I wanted to be able to say I wrote a book for my bucket list of dreams. Never in a millions years did I expect to fall in love with writing and publishing books to the point of diving into an author career for real.
I might have immortalized my Mom in this single book, but she gave me the amazing Mom to immortalize. Even when she doesn’t know it, she’s inspiring me and sharing her amazing love with me.
I love you Mom! Thank you for everything. You are truly a beautiful blessing in the world and I will aspire to make you proud. God bless you!
Comment below and let me know what you think of it? Cute or what? HEHE!
Thank you for reading until the end. As a new blogger any and all support is appreciated and welcome.
Write on~
