Elves, Magic and Flowers In the story of:
The Elven Flower Princess
Dear Reader,
Today’s story is short and sweet. The idea came to me years ago, July 7th, 2014. I wrote/sketched this story while I was in the van with my siblings and parents on our way to Canada.
Enjoy~

The Elven Flower Princess
In the day’s of darkness more commonly known as the Medieval age, there lived among nature, the Elves. Elves of various powers were scattered throughout the deep forests around the world. Each elven clan possessed a specific power that allowed them to live in harmony in nature.
That is where our story begins. Deep in a forest, somewhere where no human has ever been.
Princess Eleanor, the youngest of the elven flower royalty, stopped in front of the dying flower. Her magic and nature lessons had prepared her for this very moment. She was a powerful princess of flowers. Her duty was to bless the earth with flowers and here in front of her was a sad dying flower that needed her help.
The princess concentrated her powers, turning her hands palm out toward the withered flower.
Eleanor pressed her lips together. staring at the flower as she spoke her spell, “Little flower, I give you life. To bloom and grow deep into the earth.” A soft glow pulsed from her hands. Engulfing flower for a brief second. The glow disappeared leaving the flower limp and lifeless. Eleanor’s eyes brimmed with tears. She had failed.
Wiping the tears off her cheek, Princess Eleanor sat down, pulling her knees to her chest. “I failed. I must be a weak princess if I can’t bring this little flower back to life. Why am I so weak?” Feeling defeated the young princess wept into her dress.
From behind the tree line a few feet to the left of the weeping princess, the Elven Prince Ledor watched his young sister. He happened to be walking past when he spotted his young sister practicing her magic on the flower. The Elven prince knew his sister had the magic to heal the flower. She just needed to keep trying. How can I help her.
A twig snapped next to the crying princess, Eleanor peered out from her cradled position slowly checking her surroundings.
“The trees are lovely this time of year aren’t they, little sister?” Eleanor’s older brother the Prince Ledor stepped into her view.
The small princess sniffed, avoiding her brothers eyes.
Ledor pressed on, reaching his hand out to his sister. “Sometimes the only thing we can do, is to stand back up, and try again. Try until we achieve our goal.” Ledor gently patted his sisters long soft hair.
Eleanor looked up, waiting for ‘it’.
Ledor stepped back, opened his arms, smiling. “Would a hug help?”
That was ‘it’. Eleanor leap from her cradled position into the arms of her brother.
“Thank you brother.” Eleanor squeezed Ledor one last time.
Ledor walked away with a wave in her direction. The moment he was out of her sight, Prince Ledor magically concealed himself and peered past the trees to see if his experiment would work.
Just as he hoped, Eleanor took her stance in front of the sad limp flower. Her hands posed, eyebrows scrunched together in determination.
The young princess stared into the heart of the flower. “Little flower, I give you life. To bloom and grow deep into the earth.” The soft glow re-appeared surrounded her open hands and the flower. Glowing brighter with every second the princess could see her magic working.
The petals lost their dark marks of death, the leaves pulled free of the earth, opening wide with fresh life. Pink petals unfolded softly, until the entire flower bloomed. Long full anthers nodded their heads dusting the petals with their gold powder.
Eleanor gasped, her eyes widened with joy as she saw her flower come to life. She moved closer to it, sitting down to admire her new achievement.
Prince Ledor relaxed his hand. His experiment worked to perfection. All his sister needed was to try again. That, and a little bit of magical assistance from her brother. I may not be able to help her like this every time but at least she learned to keep trying. The prince walked through the forest to his magical kingdom leaving a trail of flowers in his path.
The end.
