Book Review of
Choose Wonder over Worry
By Amber Rae
In order to reap the best results from this book, one must have an open mind to learning about yourself, both the good and vulnerable sides. Growth comes from being willing to learn everyday.
Cover review:
5/5
Amber’s book cover is eye-catching. Bright pink and blue watercolor splash in the center of a white cover. As if worry is the blue meeting the wondrous pink color in the middle. Which is a foreshadowing of the theme of this book.
Book format review
6/5
As someone who is more visual I LOVE THIS BOOKS FORMAT!
Not only are there illustrations throughout the entire book but there are also Wonderventions for the reader to do at the end of each chapter.
Yes, you have a chance to implement what you have read, immediately.
Which I found to be a helpful tool. Plus, it broke up the chapters nicely. Like a 5 minute break.
(I am a very visual type of gal, so I loved the illustrations in this book. :))
Extra perks in this book:
5/5
Amber went above and beyond with some extra guidance in her Journal prompts. I highly recommend grabbing a notebook and pen to take full advantage of the lessons you can learn with this book.
Who is this book for?
This book can be read by anyone!
However, this book is definitely a visual reader’s paradise. It’s not in color but there are plenty of illustrations to keep your attention.
Biggest lesson from Wonder over Worry:
Worry is not something you can get rid of. Nor should you want to, instead try to balance it with wonder. Worry, just like all of our emotions, has it’s role in our livelihood. Trying to take it out completely will mess up our emotions.
Remember the key isn’t to get rid of, it’s to find balance.
Another lesson is: Please don’t die with your gifts still inside.
Which is pretty self explanatory. We all have gifts to share with the world. Don’t let them die inside of you. Test them out now, while you can. You never know what amazing things can happen until you try.
And for those who will say “That’s nice and all, but what if it all goes horribly wrong? What’s the point then?”
I would respond with “That’s a lot of ‘what if’ scenarios. Wouldn’t you rather find out then guess? If it fails, then at least you know now. Instead of dying with regret.”
Was it worth the buy?
Absolutely! Best $14.49 I’ve spent in a while.
I bought Amber’s book from Amazon: Choose Wonder Over Worry: Move Beyond Fear and Doubt to Unlock Your Full Potential

What category of books does “Choose Wonder over Worry” fall under?
I would have to categorize it as a self help, personality discovery category.
Why? Amber’s book dives into the world of self discovery, and personality. Really focusing on the relationship you have with your feelings. Teaching a few things about why you react and feel a certain way and how to balance your relationship with said feelings.
No one is going to do this for you. You have to be the one to put in the work to get the results.
This isn’t a read once and MIRACLE! You’re instantly happy and balanced forever type of book. I would recommend reading this book once or twice a year. You change, life changes around you and it’s a good way of seeing your relationship with your feelings. Especially if you are experiencing a hard challenge.
What type of questions does this book ask?
Here are few examples you will find in Amber’s book:
“Am I worthy of Love?” Meet unlovable.
“Why not me?” Meet Envy.
“Can I really trust myself?” Meet Self-doubt.
“I’m not ready yet.” Meet procrastination.
Sounding interesting yet? 😉
So far, the score is 6/5. Too high of a score, you think?
I scored my review of “Choose Wonder over Worry” by Amber Rae, high because of the results from reading her book.
In short, I am an over-thinking, anxious, introvert. I struggled for years with the lack of any self confidence, and freaking out with all the ‘what if’ scenarios. After reading Amber’s book, I could see the benefits of looking at my worry with a different light. Instead of focusing on all my worry, and the possible what if scenarios, I found myself asking is there an opportunity to learn something here? I worry and that’s ok, but it’s time to move on.
Which has helped in so many ways! It’s not always easy finding the wonder in all the worry, but it is worth looking into.
I highly recommend this book for any introverted gal to read who struggles with anxiety. It’s not a cure, but it can help.
Short story:
Choose Wonder over Worry, had such a large impact on my life that I ended up giving my copy of the book to a dear struggling author friend of mine. It never occurred to me until that moment that if this book had a great impact on my life, why not share that impact with another person?
But then, it hit, worry was knocking hard at my mental door.
What if she hates it? What if she misses the point of the book? Worse yet, what if she judges you for giving her these self help types of books. What does that say about what I think about her? My mind started racing about the “what if” questions. I picked up the book and thought for a minute. What if this book helps her start writing again? What if this book helps her? What if she ends up writing that book because of the encouragement from this book?
I turned it around, stopped thinking of the bad that could happen and started focusing on the good that might come from it. With that in mind, I packed up this book along with another great book, Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert, into a decorative bag, threw in some candy and gave it to her. Enough worrying about that, it was time to wonder.
A few days later I received a chat from her. She had made a very important connection with the book and was enjoying it. That might not have happened if I had let worry win.
Moral of the story: If you read a great book and you want to share it, instead of worrying about the possible bad, wonder about the potential good instead. Acknowledge your worry. It is a part of you and life.
Atmosphere building for this book:
This is a section I want to share to help give you the best atmosphere when your reading this book. Something fun, light and chill.
Let’s create a warm atmosphere for this book:
First: Clear an hour or two (I’m a slow reader so it’s a few days read for me.)
Second: Find a light, sunshine filled room to read in.
Third: If you don’t have a chair to sit in, throw 10 pillows on the floor and get comfy.
Fourth: Grab a drink, an iced vanilla latte is highly recommended. Or some tea, green tea with a squeeze of lemon and a spoon of honey.
Fifth: Get rid of that phone! Toss it in a different room.
Sixth: Have a notebook and pen/pencil of your choice ready to take advantage of the journaling prompts.
Seventh: if you enjoy music playing in the background and can’t get outside, I’d choose something from the RainRider Ambience Youtube channel. Specifically Summer Day Ambience Relaxing Lakeside Picnic on a Beautiful Sunny Day.
Enjoy~
