Here are the 5 Benefits of Journaling for Authors.
1. Writing practice
It goes without saying, practice makes perfect. However perfection is not the goal here. Getting good at writing and enjoying your writing process is the goal. Having a journal can help give you that extra bit of writing practice without the pressure of being perfect. After all remember, journals are private, no one but you are supposed to read them.
2. Place to write without pressure.
My goodness I never thought this would be a thing for Authors but it is!! The pure pressure we can feel when sharing our work can become a cement block on our minds. Crushing our enthusiasm for writing, simply because we fear what others might say, and think about our writing.
Journals can be a great way to work through the fear, overcome it and let the pressure go. Our journals are meant for our eyes only, so we can make mistakes, says things that don’t make sense and really let our minds fly without fear.
3. A place to help organize your many many thoughts.
Authors, we all know the pain of having a million and one thoughts flashing in our minds. It’s hard writing them all down the second we think of them. Journaling can help you get organized. You can write what your feeling, thinking and planning to do. Create a crazy system according to your preference.
PS. Get crazy and sloppy. Don’t try to be afraid to let the crazy out with your journal. Say “Journaling is fun and messy, so my writing is clean and clear.” to help you if you struggle letting the crazy out like me.
4. Dumping ground for everything
This is my favorite part of journaling. Dumping everything from my overwhelmed brain, to the empty pages of a journal. It’s not pretty or easy sometimes, but it’s the best solution for blocked authors and overwhelmed authors.
5. Helps clear your mind for your serious writing time.
You’re sitting down to write. Annnnnd 10 minutes later you have yet to write a single coherent sentence. After you pull out your journal and take 10 minutes to dump any and all thoughts into it. Feeling less overwhelmed with thoughts you take a quick break. Grab a fresh drink and take another stab at writing.
This works more often than not. Journaling helps clear the path through the mess in our minds. Once the path is made, we can write with the fierceness of the best selling authors out there.
There you have it!

What’s Cecilia’s Favorite Journaling Style?
My favorite type of journaling so far is Gratitude Journaling.
I tried notebook/dairy journaling for years. The multiple dairy’s and notebooks that I had were never full. Heck they each had about 10 full pages if they were lucky! In the end I’ve tried this style for years and it never worked for me.
A few years ago I stormed Amazon, searching for a good journal that I could work with. The soft pink cover with a centered gold design caught my eye. I studied this journal for about 15 minutes before adding it to my cart to purchase.
4 journals later this journal by far has been the best for me.
Benefits of using the Gratitude Journal for Authors:
Easy to follow! This journal comes with prompts and is only a morning and evening journal.
Quick journal for the busy author.
Gratitude focus to help grow more appreciation in our fast paced lives.
A guided tour on each page. No blank pages to stare at. Everything helps you start and end your day with gratitude.
Cute and calming design of the journal.
